New Delhi chief minister and AAP (Aam Aadmi Party) member Arvind Kejriwal said at a press conference on Thursday that he wrote a letter to the chief election commissioner (CEC) OP Rawat against deletion of the lakhs number of voters from the voter lists and Kejriwal allegedly "at the instance of the BJP". Arvind Kejriwal said he made an appointment from Rawat to discuss the matter.
"The Arvind Kejriwal said that matter come to our notice that a large number of voters name has been deleted in the voter lists after the last assembly elections in Delhi. The most name has been deleted with the Bad Faith intention. He said the legal procedure has not been followed for the deletion of voters names from the lists," that he wrote in the letter.
A "quick and probably" action has been taken on the deleted names showed that "most of them" were AAP or Congress voters. Kejriwal claimed, alleging it might have been done by some officers at the instance of BJP government to prevent them from voting.
"It shows a big scam is going ONN and BJP is playing a main role in this scam. That gives a huge impact on democracy".
Arvind Kejriwal wants a fair and transparent inquiry made by the Election Commission of India and said that also added those names which are deleted from the voter lists.
Aam Aadmi Party South Delhi Lok Sabha seat member, Raghav Chadha had alleged that about more than one lakh names were deleted from the voter lists in the past six months to one year.
Arvind Kejriwal revealed that an inquiry made by him in nine cases, names were deleted in July 2018, after a door-to-door survey by the booth-level officer (BLO) who could not locate addresses of the voters.
After an inquiry, the officers got Form 6 filled in which he enrolling five of the persons in the voter's list and assured that remaining persons will be included in that electoral list.
"If the Booth Level Officer (BLO) could locate the houses during the door-to-door survey in July 2018, how could he locate the houses so easily after an inquiry was ordered?" he questioned.
Arvind Kejriwal told that the deletion of names from the voter's lists comes under after the previous Assembly election in Delhi.
